President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali chaired today at the Congress
Palace in Tunis, the opening of the 16th ordinary session
of the Arab Summit.
Addressing several Arab sovereigns and heads of state and
government, the Tunisian President stressed that the attention
of the whole Arab nation is turned towards this meeting and
expects that the results will meet Arab peoples' aspirations
for further cooperation, solidarity, progress and invulnerability.
He also expressed the hope that this meeting will reinforce
Arab consensus, confirm the will for reform and modernization,
and allow to adopt optimum ways for the promotion of Arab
joint action and the reinforcement of its credibility in all
fields.
